STRIDE592 has launched Girls on the Move, a wellness and empowerment programme aimed at supporting girls aged 6 to 18 through physical activity, mentorship, psychosocial support and personal development.
The initiative seeks to create a safe environment where young women can build confidence, resilience, leadership skills and healthy lifelong habits, a release said. Through structured training, mentorship and wellness education, the programme aims to help participants overcome challenges and become positive contributors within their communities.
The programme was developed in response to issues affecting young girls, including low self-esteem, peer pressure, bullying, mental health concerns, limited access to positive role models and a lack of safe recreational opportunities, the release noted.
Approximately 30 girls will take part in the inaugural programme over the coming months, supported by a network of 15 mentors, wellness advocates, educators and volunteers.
Participants will take part in structured run and walk training sessions, mentorship activities, wellness discussions, team-building exercises, educational experiences and community engagement opportunities aimed at fostering personal and social development.
The programme will culminate with participants taking part in the SOCA Heart 5K on September 27, 2026.
