The Guyana Open, the country's premier golfing championship, will return to the Lusignan Golf Club (LGC) on October 31 and November 1.

The tournament is expected to draw the country's top golfers along with regional and international competitors for two days of competitive play across several divisions.

Play will officially begin with a cocktail reception on the evening of October 31, bringing together sponsors, players, club members, officials and invited guests ahead of competition.

LGC grounds staff are preparing the course to championship standard, with organisers promising a test of accuracy, strategy and consistency on one of the region's leading courses.

LGC Public Relations Officer Dr Joaan Deo said the tournament remains the flagship event on the club's calendar.
"The Guyana Open continues to be the flagship event on our golfing calendar, and we are delighted to once again welcome golfers from Guyana and overseas to the Lusignan Golf Club," Deo said, adding that the event continues to grow in stature each year.

Deo said members, volunteers and the organising committee had already begun preparations, crediting sponsors and supporters for their role in developing golf in Guyana.

The tournament also aims to promote sports tourism, strengthen regional and international sporting ties, and inspire young golfers.
