Putting aside video games and his bicycle paid off for 11-year-old Nashon Xavier Thomas of Bethany Village, Region Two, who emerged as the third top performer from Bethany Primary School at the 2026 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).

Nashon, who is 11 years and five months old, has earned a place at Abram Zuil Secondary School and is already looking ahead to a bright future, with hopes of one day becoming a pilot.

Preparing for the examination required dedication and sacrifice. Determined to succeed, Nashon put aside many of the activities he enjoyed, devoting countless hours to studying both early in the mornings and late into the nights.

Reflecting on his success, Nashon expressed gratitude to the teachers who guided him throughout his academic journey, extending special thanks to Miss Indera and Sir Keanu for sacrificing their time after regular school hours to provide extra lessons.

The young scholar also credited his father and grandmother for their constant encouragement and support, which motivated him to remain focused on his studies.

Growing up in the Amerindian community of Bethany, Nashon hopes that his accomplishment will inspire other students to pursue their dreams through hard work and determination.
