Banks DIH Limited has opened its first Demico Qik Serv branch in Bartica, marking the seventh location for the fast food chain and extending its footprint further into Guyana's regions.
The opening ceremony was held at First Street, Third Avenue, and drew members of the Bartica community along with regional officials including Bartica Mayor Anthony Murray and Region Seven Regional Vice Chairman Alden Marslowe.
Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister Susan Rodrigues delivered the feature address, recognising the branch's contribution to local economic activity and regional development. Banks DIH Chairman/Managing Director Clifford Reis, along with members of the Board of Directors and executive members, also attended.
Also present were Desmond Gajraj, whose more than 40 years in the restaurant industry include decades as General Manager of the Demico Division, and Maxwell Denny, Division Executive of the Demico Division, who brings over 20 years of financial management expertise to the role.
Minister Rodrigues highlighted Banks DIH's long history of service to Guyana, describing the company as a symbol of local entrepreneurship, innovation and resilience, and commended its continued investment in communities.
Gajraj said the company's expansion into Bartica reflected visionary leadership and its ability to leverage opportunities.
"The opening of this Qik Serv branch in Bartica represents Banks DIH Limited's commitment to communities. A commitment that is truly Guyanese, as it provides opportunities for local farmers, local talent and local suppliers," he said.
Denny, in his vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to employees, suppliers, contractors and leaders who contributed to the opening.
"To our loyal customers and the residents of Bartica and surrounding communities, we express our deepest gratitude for your continued trust and support.
Your confidence in our company has been the foundation of our success for generations, and we remain committed to serving you with excellence," he said.
The Bartica branch is expected to create new employment opportunities for residents of the town and surrounding area, and adds to Demico Qik Serv's continued expansion across Guyana, bringing its Guyanese menu closer to communities outside the capital.
