Three days of national mourning will be observed from Wednesday to Friday in honour of victims of the MV Barima tragedy, President Dr Irfaan Ali has proclaimed.
During the mourning period, the National Flag will be flown at half-mast on Government buildings and other appropriate locations.
Wednesday will be observed as a National Day of Prayer, with a National Day of Prayer and Remembrance to be held at the Kingston Seawall, Georgetown.
A Night of Reflection and Prayer will be held in Port Kaituma on Thursday and in Mabaruma on Friday.
Religious organisations, civic groups and citizens have also been encouraged to host candlelight vigils and moments of prayer during the mourning period.
