Region 10 is being positioned to become a major producer of black-eye and red beans for domestic consumption and export, as authorities move to diversify the region's economy through agriculture, Agriculture Minister Zulfikar Mustapha said on Wednesday.
Minister Mustapha outlined the plan while responding to concerns raised by residents of Retrieve, including drainage and irrigation, during the ongoing Cabinet Outreach led by President Irfaan Ali.
He highlighted the Government's continued investments and interventions aimed at improving the lives of residents across Region 10, and assured residents that the issues raised would be followed up with the relevant authorities.
Minister Mustapha said the Government remains committed to working with communities to address their needs and advance development across the region.
He was accompanied by Director General in the Ministry of Amerindian Affairs Sonia Latchman, as the team engaged residents and listened to their concerns.
The outreach forms part of President Ali and the Government's broader push to take governance directly to the people, ensuring development reaches every part of the country.
