Dwayne Ross, a 25-year-old technician of Princess Street, Georgetown, was charged with three offences relating to the unlawful operation of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), police said.
He was charged after he and Opposition Leader Azruddin Mohamed were intercepted by police near President Dr Irfaan Ali's private residence at Leonora.
Ross was charged with two counts of unlawful operation of a UAV, contrary to sections 6(e) and 6(d) of the Civil Aviation Act 2018, and one count of failing to obtain authorisation to operate an aircraft, contrary to Section 92 of the same Act.
He appeared before Magistrate Ravindranauth Singh at the Vreed-en-Hoop Magistrate's Court on Monday, where the charges were read to him.
He pleaded not guilty to all three charges and was granted bail of $200,000 on each charge.
As bail conditions, he was ordered to report to the police once monthly and lodge his passport with the court.
The matter was adjourned to September 30 for report.
