President Dr. Irfaan Ali will deliver the keynote address at a major international aviation safety forum in Georgetown, placing Guyana at the centre of global discussions on regional cooperation, stronger safety oversight and improved accident and incident investigations.

The joint International Civil Aviation Organization and  European Union Aviation Safety Agency (ICAO/EASA) Third Global Regional Safety Oversight Organisations and Regional Accident and Incident Investigation Organisations Forum for Aviation Safety will be held on September 29 and 30, 2026, at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre under the theme, “Optimizing Resources through Coordination and Cooperation.”

The high-level gathering is expected to attract senior aviation officials, regulators, investigators, industry leaders and technical experts from around the world, with the central focus on how countries and regional organisations can work together to strengthen aviation safety while making better use of available resources.

A statement from the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) said that President Ali’s participation underscores the importance Guyana places on aviation safety, institutional development and international partnerships as the country continues to expand its role within the global aviation sector.

It said the two-day forum will examine key challenges facing the industry, including the need to strengthen regional safety oversight organisations and accident and incident investigation capabilities.

Participants will also discuss sustainable financing, development of the aviation workforce, harmonisation of regulatory frameworks and stronger collaboration between regulators, regional organisations and industry.

A major focus will be the sharing of proven practices and practical solutions that can help countries pool expertise reduce duplication and build stronger and more effective aviation safety systems.

For Guyana, hosting the forum represents both a significant international engagement and an opportunity to showcase its commitment to strengthening aviation safety and institutional capacity.

The GCAA has welcomed delegates from across the international aviation community, with the forum expected to reinforce the message that cooperation, coordination and shared expertise are essential to building safer and more resilient aviation systems.
