A proud milestone in both his military and academic journey, Captain Dishon Anthony Harris of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) has been admitted to the Bar to practise as an Attorney-at-Law.
The application was presented by Attorney General (AG) and Minister of Legal Affairs, Anil Nandlall, SC, and was heard and granted by the Honourable Madam Justice Deborah Kumar-Chetty.
The AG said that Harris obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree with distinction from the University of Guyana before successfully completing the Certificate of Legal Education at the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago.
As part of his professional development, he completed his in-service training at the Attorney General’s Chambers. He currently serves as Clerk of the Commission of Inquiry appointed by His Excellency the President into the MV Barima tragedy.
Captain Harris will now join the legal unit of the Guyana Defence Force, where he will continue serving his country, bringing together his military experience and legal expertise.
His admission to the Bar marks not only a personal achievement, but also an important addition to the legal profession and the GDF’s capacity to serve with distinction.
