Guyanese entrepreneurs aged 25 to 35 can now apply for the 2027 Young Leaders of the Americas Initiative (YLAI) Fellowship Programme, the U.S. Embassy in Georgetown said.

Applications opened on October 9 and will close on November 9. Applications can be submitted at https://ylai.state.gov.

The US Department of State sponsors YLAI, which brings entrepreneurs from 36 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean and Canada to the United States for skills-building workshops and exchanges with US counterparts. The programme will take place from June to July 2027.

Applicants must be Guyanese citizens and current residents who have grown their own business or social venture for at least two years. Recruitment is focused on artificial intelligence, manufacturing, biotechnology, agtech and supply chains.

Launched in 2015, YLAI aims to help emerging entrepreneurs across the Western Hemisphere reach their economic potential, according to the Embassy. It also seeks to increase trade, encourage job creation and build networks of young business and social leaders.

To date, 33 Guyanese entrepreneurs have taken part in the programme.
