A search of the car, conducted in their presence at the Kitty Police Station, led to the discovery of a .32 Taurus pistol without a serial number and three live rounds of .32 ammunition.
Police recovered one .32 spent shell on the southern side of Barr Street, obliquely opposite the residence, along with four 9mm spent shells.
The firearm, ammunition and shells were lodged pending ballistic examination. CCTV footage from the area will be reviewed.
